Charming Rural Lodging in Segovia
El Molino del Feo is a unique 3-hectare estate located in the municipality of Ventosilla y Tejadilla (Segovia), surrounded by the San Juan River, and just 1 hour from Madrid, 35 minutes from Segovia, and 15 minutes from medieval towns such as Pedraza and Sepúlveda. It is a haven of privacy and peace nestled in the heart of nature, among forests of juniper and oak trees.
It features two charming, separate houses, each accommodating up to 6 people. You can rent both houses together or just the main house. In either case, the entire property is at your exclusive disposal.
Both houses have clean, potable water, radiator heating, Wi-Fi, and a landline phone. Upon arrival, you’ll find fresh linens, comforters, and towels, as well as a kit containing eco-friendly shower gel, shampoo, and body lotion. You’ll have everything you need in the house, so the only thing you’ll need to bring is your own food. We strive to ensure that everything we offer is of the highest quality and environmentally friendly. We want to offer you an experience that combines pure nature, comfort, and elegant, simple décor that blends seamlessly with the surroundings.
Main House (Molino)
The main house has 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms. It has running water and heating to make winter nights more comfortable, as well as Wi-Fi, since coverage inside the houses is limited due to the mill’s exceptional location in the heart of nature. There is good 3G coverage in the upper part of the property.
The kitchen is fully equipped with all the necessary appliances and a complete set of kitchenware, including table linens, dishes, and a full set of silverware for 12 people. You’ll also find a basic kitchen kit with some oil, vinegar, butter, sugar, salt, pepper, spices, coffee, country bread, and oranges for juicing.
Secondary House (Loom)
The secondary house has only two double bedrooms and two bathrooms, as well as a double sofa bed in the living room.
The guest house does not have a kitchen, but the living room has a TV and a fireplace, although lighting the fireplace is not recommended for safety reasons. It is a separate building from the Main House, but it is located just a few steps away from the Main House.
Main Garden
The main garden features a porch and wooden tables and chairs where you can relax comfortably while enjoying the wonderful surroundings of this estate.

Backyard
In the back garden, we also have another area with various stone tables made from the old millstones, recycling and incorporating a piece of the old mill’s history.
These tables are perfect for sitting down to enjoy the soothing sound of the river as it flows past the estate or for having a pleasant after-dinner conversation with family, friends, or coworkers.
Farm
The estate has 3 hectares of land at your disposal where you can take a leisurely stroll while enjoying the scenery and the riverbank.
It features two garden areas, one at the front of the main building and another at the back of the mill, with spaces set aside for outdoor dining or enjoying a peaceful breakfast while taking in the surroundings. The garden includes a barbecue and a rotisserie oven.
El Molino del Feo also features natural pools in the river where you can cool off and have fun on hot summer days.

Carlos, miller
The Molino del Feo is a watermill dating back at least to the mid-19th century, although there is no exact record of its date of construction, and the villagers believe it is over 200 years old. Originally, it was one of two mills where the residents of the villages of Ventosilla and Tejadilla would bring their harvest to be ground into flour.
The mill’s name comes from Antonio Berzal, its owner in the early 20th century, who was nicknamed “El Feo” (all the locals have a nickname, though according to current residents, this one wasn’t accurate in his case, since the miller wasn’t unattractive). Antonio had two sons and later two daughters. To provide housing for his daughters, in keeping with the custom of the time, he decided to build a second house, which was slightly elevated and constructed at a later date.
Although the mill is no longer in operation, the main components of its machinery have been preserved as decorative elements: the water wheels (the blades that were turned by the water) are mounted on the exterior facades of both houses; the water channel is still in use and can be seen from the kitchen; the spindle serves as a support for the juniper wood structure in the living room; and finally, we invite you to discover up to seven millstones used for various purposes throughout the house (photo on the right).
El Molino is constructed entirely of juniper wood (juniper and savory are two plants from the same family; the former is a tree and the latter a shrub, the berries of which are used to make traditional gin). Juniper wood has a very distinctive and pleasant scent, which is said to repel moths. This wood is extremely resistant to water and adverse weather conditions, and it is not susceptible to termite damage. These properties make it unique for construction. However, today the sabina tree is strictly protected—even against pruning—and a similar structure would no longer be possible.
Antonio sold the Mill to a wealthy, romantic family from Madrid, who in turn sold it on, and so on, until it came into my possession in July 2017. During this time, several famous people have lived at the Mill, such as Bimba Bosé. The Cabriolets, the band Bimba led at the time, recorded their album *El Feo* here in honor of the Mill that had inspired them.
